bio

By using rough materials and 3D software, JB Gambier works at the intersection of physical and digital media, creating pieces that take various forms: furniture, sculpture, installation and video games. These works coexist within a worldbuilding practice that blends fantasy and contemporary elements, using fiction to comment on our real world.

His fascination with dysfunction makes it a central theme in his work, mostly represented through the use of tape, which highlights the fragility of our consumption-based systems. Inspired by DIY and internet culture, his autonomous way of working advocates for intuition, emotion and reappropriation of our belongings by making, repairing and sharing.

JB graduated with a BA in Man & Leisure from the Design Academy Eindhoven in 2020. His work has been exhibited mainly in Europe, with showcases in the Netherlands, Germany, Italy, France, and more. He collaborated with notable companies, such as designing a window display design for Hermès and building a shed with Piet Hein Eek’s leftover wood. In 2024, JB was granted by the Stimuleringfonds Talent Develoment program in the Netherlands.
